It’s a lot of work to plan a wedding, but the place to start is by selecting the venue. For Kim and Ian, they knew right away where to get married: Afton Alps. The reason this was so easy for them is the special meaning behind it- it’s where they had their first date. Both Kim and Ian enjoy golfing, so what a perfect, fun and casual way to have a first date. Anyone that around Kim and Ian can see they share an amazing bond, and their relationship is truly based on friendship and affection. Afton Alps was such a gorgeous setting for a wedding and I can’t wait to be an Afton Alps Wedding Photographer again. There are just so many places for photos, and everywhere the eye can see is green!

What a fun reveal idea! The use of smoke bombs and a sparkler was a great way to announce the reveal of their soon-to-be born baby. These two are excited to add another little boy to the mix! It’s not a birthday party until the safari animals have party hats! How cute are they?! I love being a birthday party photographer and photographing families. It is so fun to be a part of such milestones in their lives. This party had an ice cream bar and a theme. It is always such a great reminder that we are all “fearfully and wonderfully” made.

Styled shoots are always such a great way for wedding vendors to get together and have a creative outlet. This shoot was awesome, because Belle’s Event Center is a new venue! As a Belle’s Event Center Wedding Photographer, I am able to have full use of the grounds – I can not wait till the trees are blossoming, and the beauty inside the venue. We used dusty blue as the color for this shoot, and the flowers were amazing! We could not have asked for a nicer day with the blue sky in the orchard. Can’t wait for the opportunity to shoot a Belle Plaine Wedding here!

This was my second time photographing as a Van Dusen Mansion Photographer. The NACE monthly meetings are wonderful for myself to network, and for others in the wedding, catering and events industry and hospitality in general. This month the focus was on Historical Venues. As a Minneapolis Mansion Photographer, I love photographing in these old buildings! They have such character. As a vendor, especially catering there are some obstacles, it was nice to have a panel to address it and let their venues shine!

I am always excited when I have the chance to photograph as a Weddings at The Broz photographer. It is so close to home, and it is such a gorgeous building! Sam and Leah seriously just flow together. It was easy to pose them because their bodies were like puzzle pieces. Sam and Leah had a small wedding with only 30 guests, it was beautiful and intimate. It’s rare for me to only photograph family and bride and groom portraits, but it was perfect for me and them!

Styled shoots are such a great creative release for vendors in the wedding industry. We came up with the styled shoot that was inspired by olive green and lemon color, and actual lemons! We found a really great idea to use slate for the menus, table numbers and guest names. Also, since rose gold and gold have been super popular, we decided to go a completely different route of flat silver. The jewelry and the dress were a perfect tie in with the silver look we were going for. Shooting as a Minneapolis Marriott Southwest Wedding Photographer is one of my favorite places. It is such a hidden gem! There is an area in the hotel that I would have never thought to shoot in before – the pool! The photos of the bride in front of the window with the snow – WOW!!!

Matti and Logan’s winter wedding, wasn’t really white. It turned out to be a nice enough day that we could head outside though! We photographed their engagement session at the Cannon River Winery this past fall, and it gave me a great chance to get to know them! It also helped me to get to know the area as a Cannon River Winery Wedding Photographer. Logan is a pilot and literally flew in for the session, Logan’s two seater plane is actually one of the things that Logan and Matti enjoy doing together. They also recently started setting up a saltwater fish tank. Their friends refer to them, and think of them as “weird fish people”. There’s even a joke of Logan going home to pet his fish. For Matti and Logan, it definitely wasn’t love at first sight. They met while they were out one night and figured out that the distance between where they lived was too far. After a couple months they started talking again, and then things took off. Everything does happen for a reason!

The more I photography newborn, the more I love it! I have more and more ideas for the next session, it’s so inspiring. One of the best things while being a newborn photographer is when the baby falls asleep and they are just moldable! We try to schedule the session within 14 days of birth, latest, and if possible as soon as baby gets home. Alaythia was so tiny, it’s hard to believe in just a few short weeks she will have changed so much. Theo was a little ham and helped me to fill in time while baby sister was being changed and fed.
