Nathan and Anna’s connection began on Valentine’s Day, it wasn’t a romantic connection, that didn’t happen for seven years. They met as co-workers on the first floor of Kincaid’s and formed a great friendship. Their relationship started to blossom when Nathan was transferred out of state to work (distance makes the heart grow fonder?). Nathan and Anna spent time traveling back and forth between California and Minnesota and their love for each other grew. Who wouldn’t fall in love when there were adventures like wine tasting in the mountains?! Nathan proposed to Anna ten years to the date of their first encounter, and he couldn’t have picked a better place. He chose Kincaid’s, the place where they first met and also had their first date. Nathan waited until dessert, when he and Anna were sharing creme brulee and asked her to spend the rest of her life with him. Because this is such a meaningful place for both of them, it’s the spot we used for their first look!

Fall is such a beautiful time, the leaves are turning and the temperature cools down. I had such a blast with the Zimmerman family, Eli and Nessa are such little hams, and they were not camera shy at all! I have known Sadie her whole life, so it’s a great joy to be apart of seeing her family grow.

Sarah and Travis had mentioned that they wanted to include their dog, Stella. Anytime we can incorporate personal touches into a session, I am all about! She was such a good girl and added even more cuteness to the session! I loved Sarah’s signs that she made too, the one around Stella’s neck is so adorable. Hidden Falls Park was a great place for an engagement session, there was such a variety of different natural settings for us to use. It was literally a hidden gem!

Everyone loves Stillwater, it’s such a fun place to visit! The St.Croix river is beautiful and especially this time of year with all of the trees changing. Jessica and Rob have a special connection to Stillwater, they have visited there many times for many years. Jessica brought a blanket that her Grandma made and it had been in their family for years. Even though it was a pretty heavy overcast day and we were being taunted with the prospect of rain, it was still beautiful! We ended up having an amazing cluster of clouds above us when we were at the Washington County Historic Courthouse and it definitely worked in our benefit!

Angela is definitely a woman who knows what she wants, she has such confidence that just being around her has one hoping that some of it rubs off! Angie and Wes met through mutual friends at a party at the U of M, Angie got Wes’ number, and messaged him. They set up a date, sparks flew and the rest is history! Anyone that is around these two can see that they are really meant to be. Their personalities are a perfect compliment to each other.

Wes and Angie chose The American Swedish Institute because of it’s timeless romantic feel, and also because of Angie’s love of art and Wes’ Scandinavian background. One of the quirkiest things about their relationship is that sometimes they communicate with each other just by making weird noises at each other. It’s one of the closet forms of endearment that they have together!

I LOVE senior portraits sessions, they are such a great way to bring out each students unique personality. Grace is a ballerina, and we really wanted to showcase that in her portraits. We had a gorgeous sunset, and also some amazing grass that really helped with the shots towards the end of the session. There is an open preserve right up the road from the main area that we used at Rapids Lake Education and Visitor Center, that also had so many different option for us! They have an old home there, and I love anything that looks decrepit. There was also a foundation from an old building with beautiful red brick. Grace is ready to “jump” into the next phase of her life, COLLEGE!

Not only was I able to photograph the first wedding on the terrace of the new US Bank Stadium, but I got to work with an amazing couple: Eric and Elissa. Eric and Eissa both grew up in Albert Lea, their paths crossed occasionally over the years, but they didn’t officially connect until years later at college. They were attending colleges near by, Eric at Augsburg and Elissa at the U of M, became best friends, and the rest is history! Elissa and Eric both work at General Mills, so an ideal spot for their first look was the Mill City Ruins. It was an overcast day, which we welcomed after weeks of non-stop rain. Their ceremony took place on the terrace overlooking the city at Mystic Lake’s Club Purple. We were able to have access to the entire stadium for photos, and took full advantage. It’s not often someone can have their photo taken in the locker room in a wedding dress! To celebrate their union, Eric and Elissa took a honeymoon to Disney World for a magical time. Their entire wedding seems like a dream come true!

Nana has become a very special person in my life, and I was overjoyed to photograph her family. Francis and Nana renewed their vows not too long ago, so we wanted to incorporate her beautiful dress! Janna and Mitch had a one of a kind, extremely unique wedding. From the looks of their photos, it looks like any full time venue, but in fact it’s Mitch’s parents house! They transformed their “ranch” into a beautiful place for the wedding. Each table had a different plate setting, and they made a chandelier out of a wagon wheel. Janna had her eye on Mitch from the first time she saw him when they both worked at Target. He worked the overnights and she was on days, and always trying to talk to him. Mitch is a very straight forward guy, when he proposed to Janna he simply said: “Let’s do this. Let’s get married”. She thought he was joking and even told him he’s stupid. It turned out he wasn’t joking and they went to pick out a family heirloom ring from his parents house. She choose his great grandmother’s. One of the funniest things said at a speech during their reception, was that Janna calls Mitch “her mountain man”. This rustic wedding was definitely a great place for a mountain man, or couple! #itsHammestime

Brandi and Dan met while they were working together. At their wedding reception, through a toast it was announced it was even a bit of a secret! They hit it off and started dating. Brandi and Dan both have an enormous sense of humor, they are always smiling and enjoying a laugh. They even secretly stick their tongues out at the other when they think no one is looking, and often add “your mom” to the sentence. Brandi and Dan are HUGE football fanatics, so big that they even planned their honeymoon around a trip to the NFL Hall of Fame. If they ever go missing on a Sunday, it shouldn’t be hard to find them, they’ll be glued to a TV for football! Dan is quite the cook, so much so that he does almost all of the cooking at their house. Brandi said that Dan is always making her smile, and she absolutely loves his cooking. Sounds like she found herself a keeper!!!
